Lupins are very popular to be incorporated in pre wedding photos, however as Lupins are actually an invasive weed here in New Zealand, you can only find these in certain areas.

In Queenstown, the lupins will be in bloom around early November to early December.

In Tekapo, they bloom slightly later from mid-November to late December.

SPRING - September to November

For those looking for snow-capped mountains, September and October can be a wonderful time for mountain photos. The intense cold winter has passed but you are still looking between 0-10 degrees during these months. As it turns to November, this is the start of Lupin season which sees this popular weed flourish through the South Island. November is one of the most popular months as Queenstown is not as busy as summer and it is warm enough to not wear layers for photos.

SUMMER - December to February

As summer hits the South Island, the tourists flow into Queenstown to enjoy the thriving environment. However, the heat does mean that the snow-capped mountains melt away and you are left with bare mountains in the background. If you are looking for snow in these months, you’ll struggle as even the glaciers reached by helicopter only have a small amount of snow.

AUTUMN - March to May

Photographers love autumn (specifically April) as the weather is extremely reliable for the Queenstown and Wanaka area, it’s getting a bit more cooler and so you get amazing sunsets for photos. Days range between 5-15 degrees which makes it warm enough to be outside to enjoy the stunning daylight. Once the sun sets, you want to make sure you have a warm reception as the weather gets very cold! April is definitely our fav month!

WINTER - June to August

Looking for that perfect white winter photos? This is the perfect time of year when you will have snow on the ground and over the surrounding mountains. It will be incredibly cold in the snow, so please dress appropriately! (jackets needed!).

Winter elopements are very popular during this time as it can be too cold for a big wedding during this time. Take a helicopter to a mountain peak and see some breathtaking views!

Be very cautious for this time as wether can turn back for a while so those backup dates might not work.

We have a large range of ground locations that we can venture to for pre-wedding shoots. As these packages usually allow a lot of time for travel, it means we can visit places far away from central Queenstown.

Depending on what package you choose, we will make our suggestions for the best possible photos. If you have locations in mind, just let us know and we can see if this works!

Some locations do require an additional permit fee (Deer Park Heights requires an additional permit fee).

Everyone has different needs for their shoots, but firstly, you need your outfits. Whether you are doing casual wear or formal wedding attire. Some couples like to do a change of outfits for their shoot.

Secondly, you’ll need to decide if you want a bridal bouquet or buttonhole. You can organise this yourself or this is included in some of our packages.

In the leadup to the shoot, we will finalise a runsheet for the day so you know where we are going.
On the day, make sure you pack some waters and a few snacks. On the longer shoot days, we will stop for toilet and food breaks when needed.

For casual attire, we recommend neutral colours. We don’t want crazy patterns as this makes the photos look overly busy.
As Queenstown is fill with lush mountain ranges, in summer make sure you don’t wear full khaki colours as then you will blend in the background. Same goes for winter, don’t wear full white if you are getting snow photos.

For shoes, we often reccomend that girls bring a change of shoes for when we visit more adventures locations. For guys, just don’t wear sneakers! Find some nice causal smart shoes that match your outfit.

If you are doing formal attire, Queenstown offers a few gown & suit rental business so then you don’t have to fill your suitcase with them.

Short answer - Yes!

Helicopters enable us to reach unique locations that are special to you. It means you won’t have the same background as the millions of tourists that visit Queenstown each year.
With helicopter landings, you also get the location to yourself so you don’t have any prying eyes on your during the photoshoot.

You can also do multi landings in a helicopter - we have pre-made packages, however, there are many other heli locations we can visit so just let us know and we can send you the full list of helicopter landings!

For Pre Wedding photos, this takes on average 2-3 weeks to deliver the full edited gallery.

It is dependent on our current workload at the the shoot as sometimes we are out shooting 5+ times a week.
